Vincent Lepape

Vincent Lepape was born in Rouen, France, in 1972 .
 
He began his musical training in this city with Gilbert Moisand and continued with Jacques Mauger before moving at the age of 16 to the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris. There he studied with Gilles Millière and won First Prize in Trombone and two First Prizes in Chamber Music in Jean Douay's class. He furthered his training with Yves Demarle at the Conservatoire National de Musique de Paris, winning the Premier Prix d'excellence in 1992.


He is currently Professor of Trombone at the Koninklijk Conservatorium in Brussels, also teaches at the Scuola di Alto Perfezionamento in Saluzzo and is first trombone at the Teatro Regio in Turin. With this orchestra he has made several recordings for Deutsche Grammophon and Chandos.
 
He has collaborated with the Orchestre National de France, the Orchestre de Paris, the Opéra de Lyon, the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande, the Palau de les Arts (Valencia) Moscow Orchestra, Orchestre de Lyon, Orchestre de Cluj (Romania), the Monte Carlo Orchestra, Opera di Napoli, "Capella Andrea Barca."

He has participated with his Pentabrass quintet in more than 300 concerts around the world, and together with Mnozil, Spanish Brass, Epsilon and Belgian Brass, he founded the European Brass Orchestra conducted by Sylvain Cambreling and chaired by Pierre Boulez.

In 2012, he founded the "Italian Trombone Quartet" with whom he performs in Europe and the U.S.. 
He has held several master classes, Juilliard School of New York, Conservatoire Royal de Liege, Lille Trombone Festival, Festival Internacional de Pasto (Colombie),Ticino Musica (Suisse), Maiori Music Festival (Italie), Alessi Seminar (Italie), Mary'S College Of Maryland USA Public Honors College , Festival de Cuivres de Limoges (F), Spanish Brass Academie, HEM de Genève, Lausanne, Fribourg(Switzerland ), Athens University of Georgia (USA), Harford University, Michigan University.
 
He has recorded countless CDs in various formations and in 2006 his first solo CD for Summit Records " Like Me " .
 
An internationally renowned teacher, he also taught for 10 years at the Conservatorio della Valle d'Aosta , training students from all over Italy and abroad, many of whom are now teachers and orchestral players in the most important Italian and foreign institutions .
 
 Vincent Lepape was Artistic Director of the Masterbrass Palazzolo sull'Oglio festival from 2012 to 2014, has been Artistic Director of the European Trombone Academy since 2017 and was organiser of the Pentabrass Festival from 2005 to 2011.
 
He is regularly invited to numerous international juries as well as a lecturer and soloist at symposia and congresses such as Trombonanza (Argentine), International Trombone Festival (Paris), Slider Asia (Hong Kong), Festival Mediterraneen del Trombone (Marseille), Festival Europeen du Trombone (Strasbourg)
